Lettuce make way for Ducklings.

Mid August we embarked on our next WWOOF adventure, Aquaponics! Both Rene and I had been curious about aquaponics due to it’s low water usage, closed system recycling of nutrients, and lettuce growing capabilities. We spent 10 days at Victory Aquaponics experiencing most aspects of what running that operation entails. We also helped build a huge green house in 85+ degree heat. Reading about the details of aquaponics can be tedious, so check out the captions in the photos is you want to understand more about what goes on.

While in the area we saved enough energy for a day trip to Boston. Oldest cobblestone street- check, gawking at old beautiful architecture- check, stroll through the park- check, visit to the MFA- check, photo op with the Make Way for Ducklings statue- check, amazing dinner on the pier- check.

We met some other amazing WWOOFers and truly benefitted from participating. Lots and lots of learning and looking forward to tinkering around with our own small aquaponics system when we return to Seattle.

Side Note: this post is short and concise in attempt to catch us up to what’s happening now. Hopefully,it will be revisited and expanded on at a later date.
